What is cloisonné? It is an ancient metal-working technique, and it involves soldering pieces of wire to the metal base and filling them up with glass enamels in various colors.

Faux cloisonné is made using polymer clay right in your own house, and does not require any complicated equipment, hot metals, or melted glass. There are multiple techniques for achieving cloisonné look in polymer clay created by different artists. This particular tutorial summarizes the technique developed by me.

This polymer clay tutorial includes:
  • Detailed step-by-step explanations how to make the heart pendants;
  • Thirty big full-color pictures showing every step;
  • Detailed list of materials, including information about the brands and the best places where to buy these materials;
  • Complete list of tools needed to finish this project;
  • Fifteen patterns for different faux cloisonné heart pendants.

Pre-requisites: Some previous experience with polymer clay and/or wire is helpful, but not necessary.

The resin required for this project may be purchased on this site as well: polymertutorials.com/resin.html.
